After it was announced on Friday by the Minister of Health, Carlina Darias, that the end of mandatory masks outdoors is near, today the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System (CISNS) has approved the removal of this rule.

On Tuesday, the removal of mandatory outdoor masks will have to be voted by the Council of Ministers and after that, it should be published in the BOE, so it should be in effect from Thursday, February 10th.

After this, outdoor masks will only be recommended for wearing in crowded places, where the 1,5 m safety distance cannot be maintained.

Other changes in measures discussed today include raising the capacity limits for sports competitions, which will go from 75% to 85% in open venues and from 50% to 75% in closed spaces.

Regarding masks, these will continue to be mandatory indoors and there is no end in sight for this rule at the moment.

One more topic on the discussion list today was the proposal to issue a digital recovery certificate also based on antigen tests and not only based on PCR tests like it was until now, although in this case there needs to be more regulation in place it can be put into practice.
