Big annoucement: Spain will allow unvaccinated kids from the UK into the country

According to El Confidencial (online Spanish newspaper), the central Government in Madrid is finalizing details for a new order that will allow unvaccinated British kids over the age of 12 to enter the country without the Covid-19 vaccine.

Seems like the different Ministries: Health, Interior, Foreign Affairs and Industry, Commerce and Tourism are finalizing now the details for the order that will be published tomorrow in the BOE.

UPDATE - Friday, February 11

The order has been published in the BOE this Friday and will go into effect from Monday, February 14th.

This means that kids over the age of 12 will be allowed entry to Spain either by showing a certificate for a complete vaccination scheme against Covid-19 or with a negative PCR test performed 72 hours before arrival.

Up until now, kids over 12 years of age from the UK needed to have both vaccine doses in order to be allowed into Spain, a rule that led to a steep decline of tourist arrivals from the UK during the months.

This change was much requested by many voices from the Canary Islands, as the archipelago depends on the tourism generated by the winter months season, which is considered as high season in the archipelago and arrivals from the UK had been greatly affected by the current rule.

This rule change applies to all minors over the age of 12 arriving from non-EU countries.
