A specialized unit from the Guardia Civil has been dispatched from Madrid to aid in the search of Jay Slater, a 19-year-old British man who has been missing for nine days in Tenerife's Teno Rural Park, located in the northwest of the island.

According to sources from the Guardia Civil, the agents involved in this search are experts in tracking individuals across "large expanses of land" and are supported by specially trained search dogs.

The search operation begins at dawn and ends at dusk when the diminishing light makes tracking efforts challenging. The Guardia Civil has stated that "all hypotheses are being considered."

The search team comprises agents from the canine service and the Special Mountain Intervention Rescue Group (GREIM), along with support from Civil Protection volunteers, drones, and a helicopter. The focus of the search is the Masca ravine and the surrounding rugged areas in the municipality of Buenavista del Norte.
