Tenerife fire is stabilized but active, with firefighters trying to control it

The president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, pointed out that the fire has not grown during the night of Sunday and Monday morning and that, although it is still active and has not been controlled, the fire is now stabilized in various zones.

The 12 aerial resources will focus on surveillance and cooling tasks at hot spots on the perimeter, with airborne unloading in areas that are inaccessible due to the steepness of the terrain, such as the slopes of Tigaiga and the western flank of the Teide National Park.

Yesterday, more than a million liters of water were discharged over the affected area, specifically 1,131,000 litres, with 122 discharges more than on Saturday.

For his part, the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, insisted that the prohibition of access to the mountains of Tenerife remains in force and it covers the entire island.

The technical director of INFOCA, Monserrat Román, pointed out that in this situation, with the fire stabilized, the area of ​​the fire is the same as yesterday, over 2,700 hectares and a perimeter of 27 kilometers, and this means that the control lines are effective but that the fire is still spreading since the interior of the forest mass is hot and there are points that can be reactivated.

In this sense, he recalled that the alert situation for maximum temperatures in Gran Canaria is still active, while the rest of the archipelago is on pre-alert and the alert situation for Forest Fire Risk is maintained for the western islands and for Gran Canaria.
