Two arrested over gang robbery in Los Cristianos, Tenerife

Spain’s National Police have arrested two people suspected of carrying out a burglary at a restaurant in the municipality of Arona, Tenerife, during which around €7,000 in cash was stolen.

The investigation began after officers were alerted to the break-in. Initial inquiries led police to identify three individuals believed to be involved in the crime. A special operation was then launched to locate and arrest the suspects, resulting in the detention of two of them.

The third alleged accomplice could not be arrested at the time, as he was hospitalised after suffering a fall from height while attempting another robbery at a commercial establishment.

In addition to the charge of burglary with force related to the Arona restaurant, the two detainees are also suspected of involvement in other criminal activities. One of them is accused of committing a robbery with violence at a commercial premises, as well as seven minor theft offences.

The other two individuals linked to the case are alleged to have committed four minor thefts, all in different shops in the Los Cristianos area.

Following their arrest, the suspects were placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

With these arrests, the National Police reiterated their strong commitment to protecting the commercial sector through the Safe Commerce Plan, which aims to ensure the security of businesses, deter criminal behaviour and provide a swift and effective response to incidents affecting daily commercial activity.
