The Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies, declares a Wind Alert situation in Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and Gran Canaria from 06:00 on Sunday, 3 April.

Weather forecast for Saturday, April 2 

The weather will be cloudy in the mountainous islands and rainfall is not ruled out, being generally weak and occasional, mainly in inland areas. 

In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the weather will be slightly cloudy with the presence of high clouds.

Temperatures will mostly be the same as in previous days, with only small decreases in some areas. In the morning the wind will come from northeast, while in the central summits of Tenerife, the wind will be moderate and will increase in power later in the day.

Weather forecast for Sunday, April 3

On Sunday the skies will be cloudy on the mountainous islands, with the possibility of weak to moderate precipitation, which will be persistent and widespread on the western and southwestern slopes. The rain could be potentially intense on the island of La Palma.

In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura the weather will be slightly cloudy, with possible weak to moderate rainfall during the afternoon and potentially strong rain later in the evening.

Wind alert on Sunday

Probable very strong gusts of 80 km/h, which will mainly affect high areas and northern, southern and eastern slopes of the mountainous islands. The wind gusts could exceed 90 km/h in high areas of Tenerife and La Palma.

On Sunday the wind alert will be in place on the islands of Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and Gran Canaria.
