
A 50-year-old woman is in critical condition after suffering a near-drowning at Playa del Cochino, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. when the woman was pulled from the water showing signs of drowning. The Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 received an alert and immediately activated the necessary emergency services.
Paramedics from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) treated the victim at the scene. After stabilizing her, she was transported in a medicalized ambulance to the Hospital Universitario Insular de Gran Canaria. Lifeguards from the Red Cross and the Beach Rescue Service assisted in the response.
The National Police also arrived at the scene and have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.
