Woman dies in Lanzarote after being pulled from the sea in Costa Teguise

A woman passed away after being rescued with signs of drowning at Las Cucharas beach in Teguise, Lanzarote.

The incident occurred on July 25, 2024, at 14:27. The 45-year-old woman was declared dead by the Canary Emergency Services (SUC), who responded with an advanced life support ambulance and a basic life support ambulance. Local doctors and nurses from Costa Teguise, the local police, and the Guardia Civil also attended.

The emergency coordination center (CECOES 112) received multiple calls reporting that a person had been pulled from the water showing signs of drowning. Beach lifeguards were performing basic resuscitation efforts.

Upon arrival, healthcare personnel from both Primary Care and SUC continued with advanced resuscitation maneuvers. Unfortunately, these efforts were unsuccessful, and the woman was pronounced dead.

Police services have initiated the necessary legal proceedings.
