A 65-year-old woman has died after drowning at Playa del Inglés, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria, on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at around 8:47 a.m. on December 15, 2024. The Canary Islands’ Emergency Coordination Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 received an alert reporting a person in distress in the water and immediately activated emergency services.

Firefighters from San Bartolomé de Tirajana rescued the woman using a jet ski and brought her to shore, where she was found to be in cardiorespiratory arrest.
