World's Longest Promenade in Lanzarote

Good news for residents or people interested to visit the beautiful island of Lanzarote!

The world's longest seafront promenade will open in Lanzarote, surpassing the one in La Coruña. The promenade in La Coruña measures 13 km and holds the present record of thge longest promenade in the world, with the promenade in Atlantic City (New Jersey, USA) being 2nd place, at 9,25 km.

In 2016, in Lanzarote was also announced the first underwater museum in Europe, situated in Playa Blanca.

World's longest seafront promenade in Lanzarote will measure 26 km in total

The promenade in Lanzarote will measure 26 km and will stretch between the popular resorts of Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise.

Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote and the Airport will also be on the route of the promenade, so visitors will be able to walk or cycle there. For the airport and also for the port, the project includes two separate paths that will unite them to the actual promenade. Tourists who pack lightly will be able to walk to their destination in Lanzarote, taking a glimpse at the seafront beauty.

The Chamber of Commerce has announced that most of the construction of the promenade in Lanzarote is finished, there are just 2 sections that still need work. The remaining sections are the ones situated between the Maritime Fishing Institute and the Naos Port and also in the area of Punta de los Vientos.

As an advice to local businesses situated along the promenade, the local authorities encourage them to plant trees and help make the landscape more green an beautiful, in order to provide a special experience to tourists passing along.

Promenade from Puerto del Carmen to Costa Teguise - accessible only to pedestrians and cyclists

The new promenade in Lanzarote will be open only for pedestrians an cyclists, so no cars will be allowed.

The entire walk on the promenade between Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise will take around 5 to 6 hours each way. Tourists can then use a local bus or taxi in order to get back to the resort where they are staying, or they can simply walk back.

This is a great way to visit and enjoy the island, admiring the beautiful landscapes that the coast of Lanzarote has to offer. A visit to the capital of Arrecife, situated mid distance between Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise, will be just 1,5 - 2 hours within walking distance.

A boost for tourism in Lanzarote

Situated on the east coast of Lanzarote, the promenade will allow tourists to enjoy amazing sunrises and also romantic walks on the oceanfront.

The opening of the world's largest promenade in Lanzarote will bring a greater interest from tourists all over the world, who will hopefully come and visit this beautiful island.

Anyone taking the route, which connects two popular tourist resorts with the capital, will be able to do so on foot or on a bicycle. The port and the airport will also be accessible from the walkway via two separate branches that will be constructed as part of the project.

Lanzarote is becoming a more and more interesting destination for tourists in all Europe, with constant efforts being made into developing the island.
