The Yaiza Town Council has officially announced the technical and administrative details of the public tender for the supply and installation of six semi-fast charging points for electric vehicles.

The base budget for this project is set at €138,000, with €108,000 coming from municipal funds and the remaining €30,000 provided through a grant from the Department of Public Works, Housing, and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands. This funding is part of the Autonomous Community's support for municipalities with an active Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan.

Of the six proposed charging points, five are to be installed in various streets in Playa Blanca, specifically: La Molina, Lisboa, Malvasía, Janubio, and Playa de Afre. The sixth charging point will be located on Joaquín Rodríguez Street in the town of Uga.

Each point will offer 22 kW of power and feature two charging sockets. Initially, these charging stations will be available for the municipal vehicle fleet until the procedures, expenses, and management of public usage are fully established.

“Our commitment is to sustainable mobility. Along with this initiative, we plan to install six additional charging points through a grant from the Association of Tourist Municipalities of the Canary Islands (AMTC), of which we are a member along with twelve other key tourist destinations in the islands,” remarked Mayor Óscar Noda. Companies interested in participating in this public tender can submit their offers until August 12, 2024.
