Yellow warning for strong wind gusts of over 70 km/h in the Canary Islands

Aemet has issued a yellow level warning due to probable strong wind gusts from the southeast on the western slopes of the easternmost islands, and on the summits and western and northern slopes of Gran Canaria, Tenerife and La Gomera.

According to Aemet, the wind gusts will reach 70 kilometers per hour, although occasionally they may exceed 80km/h. The southeast wind will have an impact mainly on the western and northern slopes. In the case of Tenerife, in the north and in the metropolitan area the wind gusts can reach 90km/h.

The yellow warning for wind will be in effect starting from 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the case of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, and from 9:00 a.m. in Gran Canaria, Tenerife and La Gomera and it should end at 6 pm on the same day.

Slightly cloudy or clear skies, with intervals of high clouds. Presence of suspended dust throughout the archipelago, affecting the easternmost islands to a greater degree, where visibility could drop significantly.

Temperatures will rise slightly, especially the maximums on the northern and western slopes. 

The warning for strong wind gusts will be in effect starting from the early hours of the morning in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura and from 9 am in Gran Canaria, Tenerife and La Gomera, ending in the evening at around 6 pm.
