A 23-year-old man died on Wednesday night after falling from a hotel balcony in Puerto de la Cruz, on the island of Tenerife.

The incident occurred at around 9:01 p.m. on October 8, 2025, on Avenida Venezuela, according to a statement from the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2.

Emergency services were initially alerted to a fire that had broken out in one of the hotel’s rooms. CECOES immediately mobilized the necessary response units, including the Tenerife Fire Consortium, two ambulances from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC)—one advanced life support and one basic support unit—the Local Police, and the National Police.

Upon arrival, police officers evacuated the hotel as a precaution while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze and ventilate the building. During the operation, officers from the National Police informed CECOES that a man had fallen from one of the hotel’s balconies under circumstances that remain unclear.

Medical personnel from the SUC confirmed the man’s death at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. Firefighters later brought the fire under control, which had affected a single room.

The National Police have opened an investigation to determine the cause of both the fire and the fatal fall.
