La Palma airport has once again reopened for commercial flights on Saturday, after being closed since November 20.
The reopening of the airport was possible because the wind pushed the ash cloud from the volcano towards the west-southwest of the island, so after the ash cleaning work was carried out, it was possible for the airport to start operations again.
In terms of air quality, the indicators for both suspended particles and gas emissions have had good values at all stations on the island, so this is great news for the residents of La Palma.
Regarding seismicity, María José Blanco indicated that at intermediate depths it continues at low levels and continues to be located in the same areas, and at depths greater than 20 kilometers it also remains at low levels.
