PEVOLCA announced that there are now two more eruptive mouths in La Palma, so there's a new lava flow that could merge at some point with the other initial lava stream.
However, due to the bad air quality that has been registered, PEVOLCA ordered last tonight the confinement of several population centers in the municipalities of El Paso and Los Llanos de Aridane. In addition, the San Borondón, Marina Alta, Marina Baja and La Condesa nuclei included in the previous update continue to be confined. This confinement is now affecting 3,500 people, in addition to the 6,000 who were evacuated from their homes already.
The area affected today by the eruption in La Palma is more than 246 hectares, with a perimeter of 26.2 km and a maximum width of 900 meters. This means that the area affected by the volcano now represents between 8% and 10% of La Palma.
