In a move aimed at enhancing both citizen security and mobility, the City Council of La Oliva has rolled out an innovative video surveillance initiative.

By adding 65 cutting-edge cameras strategically placed throughout the municipality, this project represents a significant leap forward in municipal innovation, underlining a steadfast commitment to fostering a safer community environment.

Mayor Isaí Blanco emphasized the project's importance, stating, "The deployment of this intelligent video surveillance system underscores our unwavering dedication to citizen security. It serves as a vital tool in addressing contemporary challenges in security and mobility."

Strategically positioned at key locations such as main entrances, roundabouts, and high-traffic areas, these cameras not only monitor traffic and road safety but also surveil areas with significant pedestrian activity. According to Jorge Fleitas, sub-inspector of the La Oliva Local Police, the system's real-time monitoring capabilities significantly enhance incident response: "This technology provides us with a comprehensive real-time view, enabling us to respond more effectively to any situation."

The nerve center of this surveillance network is the traffic control and monitoring center, situated within the Local Police facilities in Corralejo. From here, various locations across the municipality, including Corralejo, La Capellanía, Parque Holandés, Caldereta, La Oliva, Villaverde, Los Lajares, and El Cotillo, are monitored. Additionally, plans are underway to integrate state-of-the-art license plate readers at strategic points, further bolstering detection and intervention capabilities.

With the implementation of this smart video surveillance network, La Oliva strides confidently toward a safer and more interconnected future, leveraging technology as a critical ally in ensuring the well-being of all residents.
