65 year-old hiker rescued by helicopter in Tenerife

On Monday, a helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) rescued a 65-year-old hiker who sustained moderate leg trauma after falling in La Laguna municipality, Tenerife.

The incident occurred at 10:30 a.m. when the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands received a call requesting medical assistance for a hiker who had fallen and was unable to continue on the trail connecting Cruz del Carmen with Bajamar.

The GES helicopter team, with support from the firefighters, successfully rescued the injured hiker and transported him to Tenerife North Airport. There, an SUC ambulance took over, providing further assistance and transferring him to La Candelaria Hospital.
