Aemet, the State Meteorological Agency, has activated the yellow alert in the Canary Islands for rain and wind starting from noon on Saturday, March 26.
At the moment is active from 12:00 pm on Saturday and throughout all day on Sunday for the islands of La Gomera, La Palma, El Hierro and Tenerife, while in Gran Canaria the alert will only be in place on Sunday.
In various parts of La Palma, El Hierro, Tenerife, La Gomera and Gran Canaria the accumulated precipitation could amount to 15 mm in one hour and to 60 mm in 12 hours.
The estimated maximum wind speed is 70 km/h in La Palma, El Hierro, Tenerife, La Gomera and Gran Canaria
Rainfall is expected in the western islands, which could be more intense and in the form of showers in La Palma and El Hierro, towards the end of the day.
As for Gran Canaria, on Saturday, the precipitation here could be in the form of weak and scattered rainfall and only in the north of the island.
The yellow alert will continue on Sunday when the rain will continue to be present in the mountainous islands, locally strong. In the eastern part of the archipelago, the rain is expected to be occasional and weak.
