The Cabildo de Fuerteventura, through the Environment area, which is directed by Carlos Rodríguez, wants to thank the citizen César Espino for his act of courage in rescuing a whale in distress in waters near the coasts of Fuerteventura.
The cetacean was entangled in several ropes that prevented it from moving freely when it was sighted by Espino from the recreational boat Fuerteventura Full Experience.
The rescue lasted for several hours and, according to César Espino, the whale was exhausted and had injuries caused by the ropes, but when he detected his presence, far from fleeing and submerging, he let him get closer and stayed at a shallow depth so that the young man could help her get rid of the ends.
The authorities want to recognize and thank César Espino for his heroic and selfless act of saving the whale, however, they also want to recall everyone that interacting with wild animals carries significant risks since their reactions are unpredictable. The Insular Institution calls for caution and consideration of the safety of both human beings and wildlife when approaching situations of this type, indicating that in the event of finding injured wildlife, it is necessary to call 112.
