Looking for the most beautiful nudist beaches in Tenerife?

Nudism or naturism is generally legal in Spain, including the Canary Islands, which includes Tenerife. Spain is known for its liberal approach to nudity, so there are many designated nudist beaches in Tenerife to choose from.

General info about nudism in Tenerife

Although nudism is allowed in Tenerife, you must keep in mind that it is not permitted on urban beaches, in towns and resorts, but that is not a big problem since Tenerife has hundreds of kilometers of coast and lots of beautiful wild beaches that can be enjoyed even if they are away from the busy tourist resorts.

Tenerife, being an island with a subtropical climate, often experiences a high UV Index, especially during the summer months when the sun is strongest, so make sure to use a 50 SPF sun cream to protect yourself from the sun.

Best nudist beaches in Tenerife

Tenerife, like many of the Canary Islands, has several nudist or clothing-optional beaches due to its generally relaxed attitude towards naturism. While these beaches are known for being clothing-optional, it's essential to be respectful of local customs and rules. Make sure to follow any guidelines or regulations in place to ensure a positive experience for yourself and others.

Some of the popular nudist beaches on the island include:

1. Playa de la Tejita

Playa La Tejita - nudist beach in Tenerife, Canary Islands

Located close to El Medano, La Tejita is one of the most popular nudist beaches in Tenerife, although it is windy, even more so during the summer months.

Playa La Tejita is still wild (compared to other resort beaches in Tenerife) and offers beautiful views of Montaña Roja (Red Mountain).

You can easily drive to Playa La Tejita as there is a parking for cars nearby (you do need to walk for a few minutes to reach the beach) but you also have the option to arrive by bus, via bus lines 410, 470, 483 (the bus stop is called La Tejita).

2. Playa Diego Hernandez

Playa Diego Hernandez is located between El Puertito de Adeje and La Caleta and it's one of the most popular nudist beaches in the south of Tenerife.

In order to reach Playa Diego Hernandez we parked our car at Puertito de Adeje and walked on the coastal path for around 20 - 30 minutes until we reached what is still one of the secret beaches in Tenerife, as it's away from the resorts.

3. Playa de las Gaviotas

Situated on the northern coast of Tenerife, this secluded beach is known for its black sand and is a favorite among nudists.

Playa de Las Gaviotas is located close to Playa Las Teresitas, but it has black volcanic sand and is sheltered by a tall massif that helps protect it from the wind.

During the summer months, especially on the weekends, you'll also find many local families with kids coming to this beach, but it's still popular among nudists the rest of the time when it's now as crowded.

4. Playa de los Patos

Playa de Los Patos naturist-friendly beach is located on the northern coast, near the town of La Orotava. It's a more remote and rugged beach known for its natural beauty.

In order to reach the beach you need to go down a set of stairs that was recently redone, since it was unusable for many years, so the beach was inaccessible from land, you could only get to it via the ocean with a boat.

Playa de Los Patos is still wild and remote, an ideal beach for nudists in Tenerife, although you need to keep in mind that the ocean here is dangerous due to the strong currents.

5. Playa Montaña Pelada

Located close to El Medano, this beach is known for its natural beauty and its popularity among naturists.

You can even walk from El Medano to Playa Montana Pelado, it only takes around half and hour and you will soon reach this wild and untouched beach, with no facilities, but beautiful views.

Keep in mind that this beach can be quite windy, as it is usually the case on the coast near El Medano.
