These are the new closing times in the Canary Islands, after the extension that allowed the increase of closing times, capacities, and group sizes set on September 30th has come to an end on December 15th.

The schedules and capacity are the following, depending on each island's alert level:

  • Level 1: the closing time is established at 4:00 am and the outdoor capacity is 100% and 75% indoors
  • Level 2: the closing time is established at 3:00 am and the outdoor capacity is 75% and 50% indoors
  • Level 3: the closing time is established at 2.00 am and the outdoor capacity is 50% and 33% indoors

Extended opening times for places that use the Covid certificate

The opening hours and capacity set for each level may be increased in those establishments and activities that will request the COVID certificate. In this way, these establishments and activities will be able to take advantage of the opening hours set for islands that are at one level lower than the island in question.

So in this case, it would mean that a bar that requests the Covid certificate from guests and is set on an island that is at level 3, can stay open until the closing hours set for islands at level 2.

Hours and capacity for establishments that request the COVID certificate

  • Level 1: opening hours are unlimited, with 100% capacity both indoors and outdoors.
  • Level 2: closing hour is set at 4:00 am, with 100% capacity outdoors and 75% indoors.
  • Level 3: closing hour is established at 3:00 am, with 75% capacity outdoors and 50% indoors.

Level 4

In the case of alert level 4, the closing hours of establishments are set at 1:00 a.m. and the maximum capacity allowed is 33% outdoors and 25% indoors.

Currently, there is no Canary Island at level 4, but in the event that one of them may pass at that level,  establishments can use the Covid certificate to continue following the restrictions for level 3: closing time at 2:00 a.m. and outdoor capacity of 50% and 33% indoors.

Groups of people in spaces for public and private use

These are the limits for groups of people in spaces for public and private use, closed or outdoors, except those living together:

  • Level 1: 12 people maximum, except in the case of cohabitants.
  • Level 2: 8 people maximum, except in the case of cohabitants.
  • Level3: 6 people maximum, except in the case of cohabitants.
  • Level 4: 6 people maximum, except in the case of cohabitants.
