In 2025, the International Kite Festival in Fuerteventura will celebrate its 378th edition since it first launched in 1987. The event started more than 30 years ago and it was simply a gathering put together by people who were passionate about kite flying and since then it has grown with each edition, into the internationally recognized event that it is now.
The trade winds of Fuerteventura are about to carry a splash of color and creativity as the 38th International Kite Festival takes flight over the beaches of Corralejo and El Cotillo from November 10 to 16, 2025. More than 200 kite flyers from around the world will gather to transform the skies of northern Fuerteventura into a moving work of art — a dazzling tradition that has become a must-see event for locals and travelers alike.
Every edition of the festival brings something new, and 2025 is no exception. Visitors can look forward to a drone racing circuit, a giant puppet park, and even an AstroScience day for stargazers. For art lovers, the first “Kitefestival” Speed Painting Contest will challenge artists to capture the festival’s colorful energy on canvas.
One of the highlights will be the drone light show, returning bigger than ever with 300 drones illuminating the Corralejo night sky on November 14 and 15 at 9:30 p.m. at the Muellito de Corralejo. It’s an unmissable spectacle where technology meets the magic of the island’s night breeze.
“La Oliva’s International Kite Festival keeps breaking boundaries every year,” said Isaí Blanco, mayor of La Oliva. “It’s an event that attracts visitors from across the globe while highlighting the natural beauty of Corralejo and El Cotillo. Our goal is to celebrate creativity in harmony with nature.”
Corralejo Kite Festival is an international festival that already has a base of loyal fans and the event has gained enough international recognition to be considered among the most acclaimed kite festivals of its type in the world.
