Fuerteventura Kite Festival on Corralejo Grandes Playas

In 2020, the International Kite Festival in Fuerteventura will celebrate its 33rd edition since it first launched in 1987. The event has started more than 30 years ago and it was simply a gathering put together by people who were passionate about kite flying and since then it has grown with each edition, into the internationally recognized event that it is now.

The event is aimed to attract both amateurs and professional kite pilots, so if you are passionate about kite flying this is the place to be.

Also, if you happen to be on holiday in Corralejo at that time (or anywhere else on the island for that matter) it is worth it to come and see the amazing kites flying over the sand dunes, with the Lobos Island and the turquoise water in the backdrop.

In the last years, the Kite Festival in Corralejo - Fuerteventura has attracted a lot of attention from the Spanish press and international as well, so participants gather from numerous countries to take part in this colorful event.

The schedule below is from the 2019 edition of the Kite Festival in Fuerteventura.

THURSDAY, November 7th (COTILLO)

10 am to 5 pm

  • Exhibition of Static and Acrobatic Kites on la Concha beach, el Cotillo

FRIDAY, November 8th on “El Burro” Beach (Corralejo Sand Dunes)

10:30 am

  • Opening Flight featuring the creativity of Jacinto and Flora

10:30 am - 12:30 pm

  • Session for children. Workshops that are organized with the schools of the municipality.

10 am – 5 pm

  • Exhibition of static and acrobatic kites. All undertaken by professional kite flyers coming from different European countries. 

SATURDAY, November 9th on “El Burro” Beach (Corralejo Sand Dunes)

10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Kite exhibition of diverse shapes and colors 

11.30 a.m.- 4.30 p.m.

  • Animation for all children present

1 p.m.

  • “ROKAKUS” KITE COMBAT”.

Air fighting competition between the participating kites, where only the strongest wins.

SUNDAY, November 10th on “El Burro” Beach (Corralejo Sand Dunes)

10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • The kite festival continues

The colorful kites will fly again over our Dunes landscape.

11.30 a.m.- 4.30 p.m. 

  • Animation for all children present

2 p.m.

  • Closing of the festival and prize-giving ceremony
