Aena plans to extend the operating hours at the airports of Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and La Palma.
To achieve this, Aena is conducting a continuous analysis of current and projected traffic demand to ensure that the airports maintain adequate operational capacity, according to the Central Executive.
Any modification requires a feasibility study covering technical, operational, and resource aspects, along with prior consultation with all affected stakeholders. Initially, however, Binter must submit a firm flight scheduling proposal.
The government has stated that the current schedules at the four airports are "adequate for the existing operations of the airlines."
The modification request from the socialist deputies concerns the airports of Tenerife-Norte Ciudad de La Laguna, Fuerteventura, and La Palma, excluding Lanzarote.
If Aena determines that the proposal is viable, the schedules and resources at the three airports will be adjusted as needed.
