One man has drowned in Costa Calma and another one had to be hospitalized in an event that occurred on Wednesday afternoon on a beach in the south of Fuerteventura.
Initially, the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert in which it was reported that the lifeguards had rescued a man from the water and he was disoriented.
Later, in a second call, the lifeguards reported that they had rescued another swimmer who was in cardiorespiratory arrest and they were performing resuscitation maneuvers.
The event occurred on a beach in the Costa Calma area, where health personnel performed resuscitation maneuvers on the man who was in cardiorespiratory arrest, but they couldn't save his life.
As reported by 1-1-2, the events occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, when the notification was received that the lifeguards had assisted two swimmers.
The other person rescued, a 60-year-old man, was evacuated by ambulance to Fuerteventura General Hospital.
