The mayor of Antigua, Matías Peña García and the Councilor for Beaches, Lucila Guillermina Ruíz, have met with the representative of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Fuerteventura, to talk about promoting more spaces that are free of the harmful effects of tobacco.

• The Playas de Antigua Department, in agreement with residents of the coastal town, proposes Salinas del Carmen Beach to become a smoke-free space.
• The Antigua City Council collaborates with the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Fuerteventura to promote spaces free of exposure to harmful tobacco smoke.

In agreement with the neighbors of this coastal town, says Councilor Lucila G. Ruiz, we propose the Salinas del Carmen beach as a smoke-free space, collaborating with the Association Against Cancer to promote healthy environments without environmental tobacco smoke and facilitating the organization of campaigns developed by the association pointing out the harmful effects of tobacco.

The administration is also considering the possibility of adding Pozo Negro beach to this initiative, and the councilor announces that they will soon sign a letter of commitment, marking smoke-free spaces with information signs, as well as coordinating the implementation of awareness and information campaigns on site.
