A tragic event took place this Monday on Playa del Pirata in Gran Canaria's municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, claiming the life of a 30-year-old man who drowned in the ocean.
The Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands issued a statement revealing that they received an alert around 11:25 am reporting a person in distress at Playa del Pirata.
Responding swiftly, Red Cross personnel managed to reach the victim and rescue him by using a jet ski, as the man was found in cardiorespiratory arrest. Despite the immediate initiation of advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers by SUC healthcare workers, their efforts to revive the young man were in vain.
Agents from the National Police intervened following the tragic incident, overseeing the handling of the man's body until the arrival of judicial authorities.
