The Ministry of Tourism in the Canary Islands congratulates the British football team and its fans, known for the color of their clothing as the 'sky blues', while pointing out that the Canaries also have the best "blue skies" in Europe.

The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the public company Turismo de Islas Canarias, has carried out this initiative in the Uk, to pay tribute to Manchester City and its fans. It this fence the Ministry installed a giant billboard in the city center after the team won the Champions League.

Turismo de Canarias took advantage of this important sporting event, which has been taking place in Manchester for a week, to attract the attention of potential tourists to the Canaries, since 18% of British visitors who travel to the archipelago depart from this city, which is only surpassed by London, with 30%.

Through a large billboard, which will be located for 14 days in front of the main shopping street, Market Street, the Ministry uses a play on words to congratulate the club and its fans, known as the 'Sky Blues' for their uniform, reminding them that the islands also have the best 'blue skies' in Europe.

The objective of this action is to further strengthen ties with the British market, which plays a fundamental role in Canarian tourism, since last year almost 5 million visitors from the United Kingdom arrived in the archipelago, that is, 34% of the 14.6 million tourists that the islands received in 2022.
