A man is in critical condition after falling in the pool of a tourist complex in Tias, Lanzarote.

The 53-year-old man's life was saved thanks to the swift response of a lifeguard and emergency personnel at a tourist complex on Calle Mato in Tías. The incident occurred around 6:31 p.m. local time on Tuesday, prompting an urgent call to the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands.

Reports indicate that the man experienced a fall in the pool, leading to a sudden cardiac and respiratory arrest. The resort's lifeguard responded quickly, initiating cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers until medical teams arrived.

Responding to the alert, CECOES 112 coordinated a rapid deployment of resources, including basic and advanced life support ambulances from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), as well as assistance from the Local Police to secure the area.

The collaborative efforts between the lifeguard, emergency services, and law enforcement were pivotal in stabilizing the patient's condition on site. Following intensive care at the scene, the man was transported in critical condition to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital for specialized medical treatment.
