Young tourist suffers fatal fall from hotel balcony in Lanzarote

A young British tourist suffered a fatal fall while on holiday on the island of Lanzarote, after falling from a hotel balcony in Costa Teguise resort.

According to sources from the Guardia Civil, the 18-year-old died at the José Molina Orosa hospital in Arrecife, due to the severity of the injuries caused by the fall, which was considered an accident, according to the first investigations carried out by authorities.

The Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) received the alert on Tuesday morning and sent paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) to the hotel to attend to the young man, who was later transferred to the hospital with a serious prognosis.

According to Civil Guard sources, the young man died during the afternoon.

The investigation is still ongoing and the authorities are currently waiting for the results from the autopsy over the next few days.
