A lot can be said about Tenerife South (good and bad) but one of the reasons that draws us back year after year is the beautiful coastal promenade that spans over many kilometers, going through the most popular resorts, so you can easily explore on foot while enjoying the sunny weather.

Tenerife is the largest Canary Island and also the most visited and it can have a bad reputation among some groups, due to some of its noisy resorts and clubs, especially around Playa de Las Americas area.

But Tenerife is more than Playa de Las Americas and you can enjoy the island's gorgeous winter weather even if you're not into partying and clubbing.

We usually split our holidays and we stay in several places around the island, south and north as well, but when we're in the south we usually prefer to stay in Los Cristianos, because it has lots of lovely restaurants and it has a more relaxed vibe at night compared to other resorts  (in our personal opinion).

When we stay in Los Cristianos we often venture out towards Playa de Las Americas and even further up to Playa del Duque. We prefer to walk along the coastal promenade, but you can also switch it up and take the "inland" routes like the Avenida Las Americas, also known as Milla de Oro (The Golden Mile) in Tenerife.

On your way from Los Cristianos you'll probably start from Playa Los Cristianos, passing by Playa Las Vistas, Playa El Camison up until reaching Playa de Las Americas.

How long is the walk from Los Cristianos to Las Americas?

The coastal walk from Playa Los Cristianos to Playa de Las Americas is around 3 km long and completely paved and you can stop along the way at one of the many bars and restaurants to grab something to drink or something to eat.

It will take probably around 1 hour at least to cover this distance, or probably even longer if it's your first time doing this walk and stopping

Along the way, you will be passing by several beaches like Playa Las Vistas (our personal favourite) and Playa El Camison (great views of the sunset from this area - see our dedicated article about the best sunsets in Tenerife).

The coastal walk to Costa Adeje continues along several other popular beaches in Tenerife South like Playa de Troya, Playa de Bobo, up to Puerto Colon, then past Playa La Pinta, until you will reach Playa Fanabe.

Along the promenade, you will find lots of bars and places where you can stop and grab lunch. If you're on the hunt for the "famous" 1 or 2 euro pints in Tenerife, you should know that you'll find several of these places on the promenade between Playa El Bobo and Playa La Pinta, like The Castle Pub and Tapas Bar
